"Fireflies in the fog" is the story of a long journey to the depths of the solar system, and of the human mind. Higher feelings, those who exalt us on the rest of the species, and other more dastardly that make us be despicable, are prey for the characters who live and share a generous part of their lives.
The story is immersed in a conspiracy of intrigue and leads to characters by the trails of doubt, fear, greed, depravity and love, to their final destination. A magical place full of mystery, where dwell the gods; the largest of the moons of Saturn, the icy, misty and orange Titan.
There was a time in which technology invaded the mind. All children had a tiny implant inserted in their brain, after age 24 months. It was a ritual for the family. The baby acquired an collective awareness beyond their corporal bundaries. A being connected to cyberspace. The new human race. A time when induced mental illness and artificial delirium, as a result of the malicious use of that technology, gripped a society lacking those principles that had governed its existence for millennia. Angels and demons arose from this artificial madness and the fifth horse rider rode on oceans and lands, in a world that had forgotten the word "love."
"The angel who counted the stars" is a psychological thriller. The plot revolves around the future of technology, brain implants and that other reality that in future times will make us dream of worlds now unattainable and, with another part darker, that will make us less and less human, leading us to madness.
The abduction of two twin babies in the 1990s gives way to a perfectly contrived plot over the years. A group of scientists who have remained in the shadow since the defeat of Nazi Germany designs a method capable of stirred the demoralized people. By means of the greatest particle accelerator ever conceived, the true cathedral of science, these psychopaths try to rekindle the German National Socialist ideology, once the cause of so much barbarism and terror. The Higgs boson, the "particle of God" media, was not the philosopher's stone that some leaders of the scientific community were trying to find. The discovery of another particle, that would change the course of humanity, was in fact the basis of a project of world domination of enormous proportions and unpredictable consequences.
In 2017, Jacques De Bruyn claimed to be able to join two sections of sectioned spinal cord. The scientific community welcomed the news as a bravado, a Belgian neurologist avid for fame and money; a boastful. But what caused more tension and controversy was that these segments of spinal cord to join, belonged to different individuals. Philippe De Smet, a young man from the Ardennes region, suffered from a severe and incapacitating degenerative disease. It was he, who served as a guinea pig to the eccentricity and extravagance of an "enlightened."
Philippe died, with a threshold of pain never experienced by the human being. Jacques De Bruyn was sentenced by the society, nicknamed "the new Frankenstein" and soon moved from his clinic to a cell in the prison of Mons. Since then, these attempts to emulate the character of Mary Shelley's novel had been outlawed and legally regulated.
Eighteen years later, Tadeus Kostka, a disciple of the punished, was made with an emporium that would seduce moguls, transsexuals and quadriplegics. A farce that would lead them to delirium and death.
"The dream of Artemis" tells the story of a Russian potentate who, faced with the adversities of life, plunges into the abyss in a scam of epic proportions. Written with an agile and concise prose, it immerses the reader in a plot, which will make him think, without leaving him indifferent, about an issue that is inescapable.
